Department Action

On May 10, 2018 the Texas Department of Transportation held a Public Hearing in the City of Anna to hear testimony regarding the improvements to SH 5 from SH 121 to CR 375.

In order to affirm our support of the project, we would like to send TxDOT the attached resolution in hopes that it would help to gain a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) as quickly as possible. Once TXDOT receives Environmental Clearance, they can proceed to Right of Way Acquisition and Final Design. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2021.

The proposed project would reconstruct and widen the existing 2-lane SH 5 roadway to a 4-lane urban divided roadway. TxDOT has stated that the proposed improvements would require approximately 43.24 acres of Right-of-way and easements. The project will also incorporate a 14-foot wide shared use outside lane with a 1-foot wide curb off-set and a 5-6 foot wide ADA complainant sidewalks in both directions for the entire length of the project.
