Chief Justice Carolyn Wright of The 5th District Court of Appeals is requesting release of $175,000 of Judicial Appellate Fee Funds to pay to Dallas County to help pay for the $830,000 expansion and renovation of their facility (see attached letter). The Judicial Appellate Fund is funded by a $5 court fee for each civil suit filed in county courts, district courts and probate court and is restricted to be used only to assist the 5th District Court of Appeals. The fund balance is currently $190,636, so there are sufficient funds for this request. I am requesting your approval of the budget amendment on the fiscal impact tab to use funds in the Judicial Appellate Fee Fund as requested by Chief Justice Wright.
