Department Action

Collin County Sheriff's Office respectfully requests approval to accept a donation from Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) for a certified electronic storage device (ESD) K-9.

As part of this donation, O.U.R. will provide the following: ESD K-9 acquisition, initial certification fees for handler and ESD K-9, travel to/from the initial training, lodging, and vehicle rental for the two-week initial certification course, approved ESD K-9 gear and equipment for initial certification to include items such as leash, utility vest, chew toys, food/water bowls, and annual recertification fees for the ESD K-9 only.

The Sheriff's Office will be responsible for providing: handler, properly equipped K-9/handler transportation, vet care, food/water, and travel expenses related to annual ESD recertification.

Purchasing Department Action

Request Commissioners Court consideration and any action regarding the acceptance of a certified electronic storage device (ESD) K-9 from Operation Underground Railroad. The Sheriff’s Office will be responsible for providing the handler, K-9/handler transportation, vet care, food/water, and travel expenses relating to the annual ESD recertification.
No action by Purchasing at this time. Purchasing policies will apply to any additional needs relating to this donation. mc

Budget Department Action

Request to accept a donation from Operation Underground Railroad for a certified electronic storage device K-9. Donation includes the acquisition of the K-9 as well as the initial certification fees and training related expenses including approved gear and equipment for the K-9. Sheriff's Office will be required to provide the handler as well as transportation, vet care, food and annual travel expenses for required recertification. The Sheriff will need to allocate funding in his FY 2025 Budget to cover any expense not included in the donation. General Fund (0001).
