Department Action

The Health Care Services department would like to respectfully request Commissioners’ Court approval of the Pharmaceutical Vaccine Refrigeration Units RFP. This is a funded project within the adopted FY2016 Health Care Services budget (040-6001-720.90-09, Project Code Q6001 through Q6006; Medical Equipment). Approved budget $100,000 and cost of project is $42,379.63. Helmer Scientific is considered to be the best evaluated offerer as their refrigerator units provide the largest vaccine storage capacity. The health department must frequently store large quantities of state-issued vaccine. Considering our county’s anticipated growth in population and healthcare providers, it is reasonable to prepare for increased vaccine storage needs, and therefore, the maximum capacity for refrigerated vaccine storage is highly desirable. Additionally, our staff members have received documented monthly temperature logs from an area provider serving a large population who use Helmer Scientific units which attest to the reliability of the Helmer Scientific units. Lastly, a neighboring health department also uses Helmer Scientific freezers and their feedback is the units have proven to be very reliable.

Request Collin County Health Care Board of Trustees consideration and any action regarding approval to award IFB No. 2016-180, Pharmaceutical Vaccine Refrigeration Units to Helmer Inc. DBA Helmer Scientific as the lowest and best bidder meeting specifications per the attached . Jd
