Department Action

Commissioners Court approved $2 million in Open Space Funding for this year’s funding cycle. The Parks Foundation Advisory Board reviewed twelve (12) project applications and are recommending award of $2,254,042. The additional $254,042 is available in the 2007 Open Space Bond Account, 07OS, and/or from 2007 projects completed under budget.

As in years past, priority was given to land acquisitions, regional trail connectors or trail projects and capital improvement projects for open space, in that order.

The applicants listed on the attached spreadsheet submitted requests to the Collin County Parks Foundation Advisory Board for available 2018 Open Space Bond Funds. This spreadsheet gives a brief description of each applicant’s project, their estimated total project cost, the amount of funding requested and proposed funding as recommended by the Parks Foundation Advisory Board. Further seek approval of a budget adjustment to establish the project codes for each project.

2018 Parks and Open Space Bond Election 1st Series (2019) recommendations totaling $2,254,042. $2,000,000 is to come from 2018 Bond Election funding for 2019 in the amount of $2,000,000 and the rest of the funding ($254,042) is to come from 2007 Bond Election completed project savings. Budget Amendments included to fund recommended projects as well as cleanup of completed projects.
