We received a letter from Mr. Larry Jones regarding his desire to purchase a portion of Williams Street right-of-way adjacent to a lot he owns in Copeville. Williams Street is currently unimproved except for a private gravel driveway servicing his and a neighboring property.

As shown on the attached survey, Mr. Jones has a house on his property that protrudes 1.4 feet into the existing right-of-way for Williams Street. Mr. Jones would like to sell this property but can’t do so until he resolves this issue.

Mr. Jones reached out to the other affected lot owners adjacent to Williams Street to gauge their interest in purchasing the entirety of this right-of-way and found them to be unresponsive.

As such, Mr. Jones would like to purchase enough of the right-of-way along the southeast side of his lot to get his house out of Williams Street. He is open to purchasing as little as 5 feet or as much as half (40 feet) of the right-of-way.

I have discussed this situation with Mr. Kleinheksel and neither of us see an issue with the County allowing Mr. Jones to purchase the northern half (40 foot) by 150 foot strip of Williams Street right-of-way adjacent to his property (Lot 5).

Commissioners Court’s authorization to proceed with this sale is requested and we will be available to answer any questions you might have regarding this matter.
