Collin Central Appraisal District submitted their 2020 Proposed Budget of $22,759,400 to the County on June 13th. The projected cost to each entity provided in the document was based on 2018 final tax rates since the 2019 tax rates were not known at the time. Collin CAD held a public hearing on June 27th and adopted the proposed budget submitted to the County without any changes.
State law requires Collin CAD to be funded by all taxing jurisdictions in Collin County based on a calculation of each jurisdiction’s tax levy as it compares to the amount of taxes levied by all jurisdictions in total. Following the passage of SB 3, the legislature compressed the tax rates for school districts. The school district tax rate compressions and the final adoption of tax rates by all jurisdictions impacted the Collin CAD budget allocations.
After all of the 2019 tax rates were set, Collin County’s allocation moved from the original estimate of $1,771,404 to $1,795,818. I’m am respectfully requested a budget amendment in the amount of $24,414.
