Department Action

The Sheriff’s Office respectfully requests a budget amendment in the amount of $1,996,555.00 to fund Inmate Housing for the remainder of FY 2024. Collin County has multiple ILAs for out-of-county inmate housing. We are currently exercising these ILAs due to high inmate population and continuous facility maintenance. The Sheriff’s Office is housing approximately 80 inmates per day at LaSalle Corrections at the rate of $95/day/inmate. This is in addition to associated transport fees and medical charges for inmate healthcare. In this budget amendment, I am requesting an additional $1,996,555.00 in order to fund 80 beds (including transport fees and healthcare costs) for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Sheriff's Office is requesting a Budget Adjustment in the amount of $1,996,555 to fund Out Of County Inmate Housing for the remainder of FY 2024. Attached to the agenda is the population statistics over the last 5 years as well as a copy of his Expenditure Report as of February 1, 2024 for Jail Operations. If approved a Budget Adjustment will need to be completed and funding would have to come from Non-Departmental. General Fund (0001).
