Department Action

This is notification to Commissioners Court of the pay rate increase for security service in the Tax Assessor/Collector's office. This service is provided by off-duty law enforcement from the Plano Police Department. The current pay rate is $100.00 per night and will increase to $125.00 per night.

We are now requiring the officer to stay until 7:30pm or until the last employee is safely in their car (whichever is the latter of the two). The officer must be compensated for the additional time worked. We need to ensure the safety of the monies as well as the safety of our employees.

After further discussion with the off-duty law enforcement in the Plano Police Department, the current rate of $100.00 is lower than the going rate for security services elsewhere. We are still unable to find additional officers due to the pay.

The pay rate increase of $125.00 per night will go into effect on Tuesday, December 07, 2021.
