Department Action

The Juvenile Probation Department respectfully requests Collin County Commissioners Court recognition of designation of a new specialty court program serving the citizens of Collin County. The Collin County Juvenile Probation Department and 417^th Judicial District Court seeks to establish and operate a Specialty Court (Treatment Court) designated for kids and families who suffer from mental illness. The program is called Juvenile Mental Health Intervention Program (JMHIP) and provides community-based treatment and judicial supervision in an evidence-based, restorative approach to foster treatment and support for program participants and their families, and community-protection for citizens. The program requires no additional funding and will be absorbed into existing operational budgets of the juvenile probation department and 417^th judicial district court.
