Contract renewal with Dr. James Shupe and Budget Amendment for same.
This request is to renew the current contract for Dr. James Shupe @$6000.00 per month and an increase of $10,000.00. The increase is to cover cost for Dr. Shupe going to Collin County Detention Center in addition to regular Mental Health Hearings. Dr. Shupe requires a cost of $250.00 per patient seen at the detention center. This expedites the inmate having access to pyschoative medications in a more timely manner.
Dr. Shupe provides written Certificates of Medical Examination, evaluates patients, reviews medical records and determines the need or lack of need for Court Ordered Psychoactive Medications.
Our Court is required by the Health & Safety Code to have physician testimony at all final commitment hearings.

Purchasing Department Action

Requesting Commissioners Court approval of Amendment No. 10 to contract 07335-10, Physician Services, Dr. Shupe, and authorization for Purchasing Agent to execute the same. The amendment 1) renews the contract from October 1, 2020, through and including September 30, 2021, 2) adds Force Majeure language to the contract, and 3) adds examination services for patients in confinement at a rate of $250 per patient examined.
