Department Action

Beginning in FY 21, our WIC contract was approved by Commissioner’s Court for a 5 year period to be followed by yearly funding letters. Amendments will be made once or twice a year.

Attached for approval is the WIC contract funding for FY 2022 with Health and Human Services (HHSC) for Women, Infant and Children (WIC) to provide supplemental food benefits, nutrition education and counseling. The program is meant to enhance good health care at no cost to low-income pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children, identified to be at nutritional risk. The WIC services are 100% funded by HHSC.

The funding amount for 10/1/2021 thru 09/30/2022 is a total of $1, 440,468.00

I respectfully request approval of the attached FY 2022 WIC funding for contract # HHS000801700001 with Health and Human Services.

FY 2022 DSHS WIC Grant Contract in the amount of $1,440,468 in state funds with no County match required. Grant term is October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. Budgeted funds available with the elimination of two (2) vacant positions. Please see attached spreadsheet for eliminated positions. (2108)-HC Grants Fund.

Auditor's Office Action

Original grant award had been reviewed by the grant review committee as per attached. Notification of year 2, FY 2022, in the amount of $1,440,468. Grant period is October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
