Department Action

Amendment 1 to BGE’s contract was approved on April 5, 2021 to include Phase 2 services. Phase 2 services will determine an alignment and environmental clear the section from Bridgefarmer Rd, west to south of the McKinney Airport at Harry McKillop Blvd.

We are now requesting amendment 2 to the contract to add Kimley Horn as a sub-consultant to develop traffic data. This is being done to accommodate TxDOT’s requirements for gaining approval of traffic numbers for the schematic as part of the environmental clearance process.

Kimley-Horn is already currently developing traffic for the TxDOT EIS for both US 380 and SP 399 through McKinney, immediately adjacent to the FM 546 project limits. Utilizing them saves time and money for the County to develop the needed traffic data within the study limits of the project.

The added cost of this amendment is $129,895 and funds are available in the RI18005CO, FM 546/CR400 Project account. The breakdown of the cost is in the attached.

ACTION:
It is recommended that the court approve Amendment 2 for adding Kimley Horn as a sub-consultant to the BGE contract for travel demand modeling/traffic analysis in the amount of $129,895.

Request Commissioners Court consideration and any action regarding approval of amendment No. 2 to the contract with BGE, Inc., AGR. 2019-210, Professional Services, Engineering, Alignment Study, Environmental Analysis, and Preparation of Design Schematic for FM 546 from Bridgefarmer Rd to CR 400, to add Kimley-Horn and Associates as a sub-consultant to provide traffic demand modeling/traffic analysis services for the amount of $129,895.00. Further, authorize the Purchasing Agent to execute same. MD
