Department Action

The Engineering Department requests that the contract with MSSEI be adjusted to allow for additional improvements to the Outer Loop project.

One of the improvements is the work required to revise the median nose to a laydown nose at the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) and Outer Loop intersection. Due to heavy truck traffic, we were concerned with large vehicles breaking median nose curbs while turning. We believe a laydown nose will be beneficial to the project and less maintenance.

In addition, we felt that additional signage added to four stop signs warning drivers that cross traffic does not stop would aid in increased safety. Jacob’s traffic engineer agreed and recommended adding Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Device (TMUTCD) approved signage.

Change Order No. 3 results in a net contract increase of $18,633.15. The new total of the contract will be $18,607,289.27.

Action:
It is requested that the Commissioners Court approve Change Order No. 3 for Outer Loop Access Road (Limits from DNT to SH 289) in the amount of $18,633.15, and authorize execution by the County Judge.

Further, authorize the Purchasing Agent to execute same. MD
