Department Action
The Collin County Juvenile Probation Department seeks to apply for a grant from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division for Specialty Courts.  Grant funding will be used to support operations for the established Juvenile Probation Mental Health Court which provides case management, community-based mental health treatment and support services in the partnership LifePath Systems, the county’s mental health services provider, for youth and families who suffer from mental illness and intellectual disabilities.  The grant request is for $257,754.00 and requires no county match.

Request Commissioners Court consideration and any action regarding approval to apply for Governor's Criminal Justice Division for Specialty Courts for Juvenile Probation Mental Health Court for $257,754 with no County match required, and authorize County Judge to execute same. Juvenile Mental Health Court Program Grant is to cover a total of $193,456 for 2 existing Juvenile Probation Officer positions and employees' estimated salary and fringe. The grant period is September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024.
Budget Department Action
Specialty Courts Grant Program FY2024 for the Juvenile Mental Health Court. Grant application for one (1) existing grant position (no increase to headcount) funded at 100% and one (1) existing county position (no increase to headcount) funded at 100%. Grant funding to also cover treatment services, training and travel as well as computer equipment and supplies. No county match required. Grade, title and salary subject to HR approval upon grant award. Grant period is September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024.
Auditor's Office Action
Grant application for state funds in the amount of $257,754 with no county match required. Grant period is September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024. Grant is to provide services to Juveniles. Diversion program for mentally ill or intellectual defendants that need services as an alternative to subjecting those defendants to the criminal justice system. Grant application has been reviewed by the grant review committee as per attached.
