Information
Department Action
I am requesting approval from Commissioners Court to apply for the District Attorney Testing of Forensic Evidence Grant, FY2022.  This grant is provided through the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.  My office was awarded funds from the FY2021 Grant and we are currently using these funds for quantitative THC testing of backlogged seized cannabis samples, through private labs.  The passing of HB1325 in 2019, created this backlog, because the DPS labs were not able to provide the quantitative testing of cannabis samples required by the new law.  DPS labs are still not able to provide this testing, so this grant will help our office stay current on testing and prevent future backlogs.  The Grant period runs from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022.
