Department Action

The Town of Fairview is advertising this month for bids for the construction of Frisco Road on a new alignment from US 75/Spur 399 to SH 5 where it intersects with FM 1378. The Town has requested the County transfer a parcel of land to the Town of Fairview (at no cost) that the County happens to own that is in the alignment of the roadway. The County has supported this project in the past by providing part of the funds for design and ROW acquisition from the 2007 bond program.

This is a roadway that will be the solution to some serious traffic concerns in that area – concerns of Fairview, McKinney and TxDOT – due to the awkward current alignment that is not aligned with FM 1378. Fairviews plans to award a construction contract on February 7, 2023, and expects construction to start in March, 2023, with completion by January, 2024. Attached are maps that show the general location, the specific location of the parcel, the survey of the parcel and the special warranty deed.

Action Requested: It is recommended that the Commissioners Court approve the transfer/conveyance of the parcel of land shown in the attached survey to the Town of Fairview at no cost and that the County Judge be authorized to execute any documents necessary for this transfer.

Request Commissioners Court consideration and any action regarding the approval to transfer/convey a parcel of land to the Town of Fairview in preparation of the construction of Frisco Road on a new alignment from US 75/Spur 399 to SH 5 where it intersects with FM 1378 as per LGC 272.001 (b). Further, authorize the County Judge to execute the Special Warranty Deed. MD
