Department Action

The Purchasing Department sent quote requests to three interested and qualified vendors who are listed on the BuyBoard Job Order Contracting (JOC) 581-19 for construction services for the Myers Park Show Barn Project. Of the three vendors, two submitted bids in December of 2023. The low bidder was Falkenberg Construction Co., Inc. with a bid of $170,122.96, 18% higher than the engineer’s estimate of $139,000.00.

This is the County’s first project with Falkenberg as the low bidding prime contractor. Based on the information available to us, Falkenberg understands the importance of completing the project and has the capacity to perform the work.

Action Requested: It is requested that the Commissioners Court consider the bid award to Falkenberg Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $170,122.96 and authorize the County Judge to execute the contract. The following Budget Adjustments are also requested:
