Department Action

This is to request Commissioners Court acceptance for the amended TB State grant award.

The amended grant contract begins September 1, 2021 and ends August 31, 2022. The contract amendment award is $202,300.00, which is level funding.

The state funds are meant to provide basic services and related activities for tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control. TB is a communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB is spread from person to person through the air. When a person with pulmonary or laryngeal TB coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings, droplet nuclei containing M. tuberculosis are expelled into the air. Depending on the environment, these tiny particles (1-5microns in diameter) can remain suspended in the air for several hours. If another person inhales air containing droplet nuclei, transmission may occur.

Request Health Care Board approval of Amendment No. 2 to the Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Contract (HHS000483500001) from the Texas Department of Health Services (DSHS) and authorize Board President to execute same. sh

FY2022 DSHS Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Grant Contract Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $202,300 in state funds with a required in kind-match of $40,460 for a combined total of $242,760. Grant funds will cover personnel, benefits, supplies, contractual services and other various program costs. Grant period is September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022.

Auditor's Office Action

Amendment to the TB State contact to increase state grant funds in the amount of $202,300 with a required in kind match of $40,460 for FY 2022. Grant to reduce the risk of communicable disease (TB) in the community through the TB elimination program as required in TAC Sections 97.2-97.8. The grant period is from 9/1/2021 through 8/31/2022.
