Department Action

WHEREAS, In the city of McKinney, Collin County, Minute Order 113809 dated December 19, 2013 removed a segment of FM 543 from the state highway system from US 75 north to County Road 206, a distance of approximately 1.5 miles; and redesignated the remaining segment of FM 543 from County Road 206 north to FM 455 as State Spur 195, a distance of approximately 7.6 miles; and

WHEREAS, the above mentioned redesignation affected hundreds of homeowners and businesses due to change of addresses and emergency operations; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Dallas District would like to redesignate State Spur 195 as FM 543 from CR 206 to FM 455; and

WHEREAS, to maintain the continuity of the state highway system they would also like to designate FM 543 from US 75 to State Highway 5 as State Spur 195. This is due largely because there are no addresses that would be affected by this action; and

WHEREAS, Redesignating State Spur 195 as FM 543 from CR 206 to FM 455 and designating the southern portion of FM 543 as State Spur 195 from US 75 to SH 5, will support the residents and business owners in this area; and

WHEREAS, TxDOT is asking for the Collin County Commissioners support of this above mentioned action.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF COLLIN COUNTY

1. Supports the redesignation of State Spur 195 as FM 543 from CR 206 to FM 455 as well as the designation of FM 543 as SPUR 195 from US 75 to State Highway 5.
