Information Technology is requesting Commissioner Court authorize an inter-local agreement with the City of Plano for the purpose of providing disaster recovery support to the county. Under this agreement, the City of Plano will provide the county floor space within their datacenter. The City of Plano datacenter meets industry best practices for geographic separation while being close enough that total data transmission time will be fast enough to support the use of the equipment in an active-active configuration. This arrangement will allow the county to support production level services from the facility and ensure that some level of service will remain available to county personnel in the event the primary county datacenter becomes unavailable.

This project is budgeted and will be funded through the project designed to renovate the Plano 920 building for about half of the projected cost.
