Department Action

The GEM Awards payment to the employee will increase from $80.52 to $402.58 in order to award a check of $250.00. For the County’s portion this will be an increase from $93.12 to $465.58.

Based on the current Court Recommended positions for FY 2017 there will be 203 GEM Awards available for FY 2017.

Currently we have approximately $114,000 available. 203 GEM Awards will cost $94,513.51. With an estimated revenue of $24,400 a year this will bring the balance available in 2020 to $92,700. If the GEM Award expense to the County doesn’t change (we’ve held the $80.52 for a couple of years) and the county increases the number of available GEMs to 210 (FY 2020) and 220 (FY 2023), etc. We won’t be able to support the program as of the FY 2029 allocation. We’d need revenues to increase by $34,000 over those 3 years or sooner.
