Department Action
Requesting approval from Commissioners Court to apply for a grant request through the Texas
Veterans Commission for the North Texas Veterans Court program.
The grant period is July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, with a grant application deadline of
November 3, 2016. We are requesting $150,000 in grant funding with no county match required. The
purpose of the grant request is to provide the North Texas Regional Veterans Court with a full-time
Program Manager to oversee the program, consumable office supplies, travel for the Judge, and
reserve bailiff expenses in two rural counties.
Additionally, the grant will provide funding for evaluations, counseling/treatment, and alcohol
abstinence monitoring or basic living expenses such as medical, transportation, and emergency
living, educational, or employment assistance as needed for up to 50 veterans.
Purchasing Department Action
Request Commissions Court consideration and any action regarding applying for a grant request through the Texas
Veterans Commission for the North Texas Veterans Court program and request County Judge to execute same.  The grant period is July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, with a grant application deadline of November 3, 2016. sh
