Department Action

I respectfully submit to Commissioner's Court the request to approve and create a temporary Sergeant position through August 2017. Sergeant Michael Lake has turned in orders for the U.S. Navy Reserve resulting in leave of absence from 08/01/2016 through 07/09/2017. We are requesting that during his absence we temporarily fill this position to cover the shortfall.

Purchasing Department Action

No action by Purchasing.

HR and/or IT Action

This should not be a temporary position. It needs to be a regular Sergeant position approved for a specified period of time - from 11/1/2016 through 7/9/2017. The individual on military leave will remain in his position even though he is not working for the county. He will not be paid by Collin County during his military service. The new position will assume these duties until his return. Upon the return of the Sergeant who is out on military duty, the new position will be eliminated and the individual serving in that capacity will return to their former position.

Budget Department Action

Authorization for full-time Sergeant position to be created in General Fund - Non-Departmental (001-1001) until August 2017. Position will be eliminated when employee returns from military leave. Funding available in non-departmental from temporary pool funding. 001 - General Fund

Auditor's Office Action

Funds available in the General Fund.
