Department Action

We ask the court’s approval to purchase a 2017 Ford Explorer for Sheriff Elect Jim Skinner. Currently Sheriff Box has a car allowance and not a county furnished vehicle. This also includes current standard vehicle equipment purchases and installs. In order to fund the purchase we will keep Unit 5520, a 2013 Explorer SUV assigned to the Warrant Division, in our fleet one extra year. In order to fund the police radio we request a budget amendment to move $5,540 from the patrol supplies line item to radio equipment.

Public Works Comments:
Vehicle requested is standard SUV used in Patrol, but does not require all of the equipment needed for the patrol application.
Vehicle will have undercover emergency lights and cargo box. Vehicle will be unmarked. Equipment Services pricing does
not include purchase of any special equipment such as radio, video camera, computer, etc. Cost of vehicle: $33,709.
cost of make ready: $5,000.
Cost of other equipment i.e. radio, etc., will need to be provided by department and added to final cost..
Anticipated first year maintenance: $1,000; anticipated first year fuel costs: $2,944;
insurance costs (provided by Risk Management): $148

Budget Department Action

Department requesting to keep vehicle budgeted for replacement thus adding a vehicle to the fleet. Request will be made in the FY 2018 budget to replace this vehicle. Budget adjustment attached for the radio purchase only. 001 - General Fund

Auditor's Office Action

Funds available in the General Fund. Budget amendment will be processed upon approval.
