Department Action

The City's of Celina and Prosper have been working together for the design and construction of Frontier Parkway. It was determined in February 2016, that the County would manager the project. After preliminary design to was determined the estimates used previously were grossly understated ($15.97m) and that an additional $7 million in funding was needed. The request for your consideration is to fund an additional $2.4 million, with the cities agreement to contribute one-third of the over-run each, and the County providing the other third, which would bring the County's contribution to the project to $10.75 million. The new project estimate totals $23 million. There is funding available in the discretionary funds from the 2007 County bond program. It is recommended that Commissioners Court approve the additional funding request. If approved, the County staff will move forward immediately to initiate design via a follow-up agenda item to identify the funding sources.
