Attached for approval is the contract with Department of State Health Services for Women, Infant and Children (WIC) to provide supplemental food benefits, nutrition education and counseling to enhance good health care at no cost to low-income pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children identified to be at nutritional risk.

Budget Department Action

Renewal of WIC Contract in the amount of $1,529,258. No county match required. Contract term is October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. Budgeted funds available with the elimination of 8 vacant positions. Please see attached spreadsheet for eliminated positions.

Auditor's Office Action

Grant review committee has reviewed renewal agreement in the amount of $1,527,258. This is federal funding with no county match required. Grant period is 10/1/17 through 9/30/18.

Commissioners Court

Ratification of the Board President’s prior approval of an amendment with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) for Contract No. 2017-049828-001A, Amendment No. 01: Women, Infant and Children’s (WIC) Nutrition Local Agency Grant to accept the FY 2018 grant award and further extend the contract through and including September 30, 2018, Health Care.
