Department Action

Request Commissioners' Court consideration and approval to amend the Construction Standards, Court Order No. 2017-1000-12-11. Upon approval of FY18 PIP to replace the intercom system throughout the Jail, it is Facilities Maintenance recommendation to amend the Construction Standards to allow for the addition of a Preferred Manufacture, Tech Works. The Tech Works replacement intercom parts are required to repair the existing intercom system at the jail and all other Collin County Detention Facilities. Tech Works is the only manufacture of components that work with our current system since Dukane systems went out of business. If we do not approve Tech Works as a preferred manufacturer we would need to add approximately $250,000. to the $177,000. budget to engineer replacing over 250 intercoms and associated wiring.

Purchasing Department Action

Request Commissioners' Court consideration and any action regarding the approval to amend the Construction Standards, originally approved by Court Order #2010-993-12-06, to add Tech Works as a preferred manufacturer for replacement of Dukane intercom boards and power supplies to repair the existing intercom system at the Jail and all other Collin County Detention Facilities per the attached documents. Equipment is available from multiple distributors and is competitive. Purchases will be made in accordance with Purchasing policies and procedures. jdg

Budget Department Action

Amendment to the Constructions Standards to add Tech Works as a preferred manufacturer. Budgeted funds in the amount of $177,000 are available for the repair of the intercom system in the jail. If additional funds are needed a Budget Amendment will be required. Permanent Improvement Fund (499).
