Information Technology is requesting Commissioner’s Court approval to “opt-in” to the FirstNet First Responder Network. FirstNet is a dedicated public safety communications network spectrum that is available to only designated FirstNet public safety first responders.

Budget Department Action

There is no fiscal impact to "Opt-In", however when the County decides to start using the FirstNet system there will be a cost associated with device upgrades and service plans for First Responders on various County devices. The cost for utilizing FirstNet is unknown at this time.
