Department Action

The Collin County Sheriff's Office respectfully requests that the Commissioner’s Court approve the attached ILA with Rockwall County. The agreement regards the purchase of a trailer which will be used for License Plate Reader technology by the Interdiction Unit.

CCSO will incur the total cost for the purchase and installation of the ELSAG system on the LPR trailer which includes 1 year of data service. The Rockwall County SO will incur the total cost of a Vigilant LPR system which will be installed on the same LPR trailer. This will enhance the intelligence gathering and enforcement capabilities of the North Texas Sheriffs’ Criminal Interdiction Unit as they interdict narcotics, dangerous drugs, and human smuggling. Rockwall County SO will reimburse Collin County SO one-half of the total purchase prices of the trailer and services.

Request Commissioners' Court consideration and approval of Interlocal Agreement with Rockwall County for the purpose of purchasing a trailer and license plate reader and authorize County Judge to execute same. sh

Public Works Comments

Public Works estimates the annual maintenance for the LPR trailer to be $500 per year. There are sufficient funds in the Auto Maintenance account to cover any maintenance expenses for this unit.
