Department Action

Request approval to establish an expenditure budget in fund 1031 (Economic Development) in the amount of $95,887 for FY 2019. The Economic Development 2001 Fund was created in FY 2001 to account for funds received from the State of Texas Comptroller due to capital credits received from electric cooperative corporations reported to the Comptroller as unclaimed property. The Comptroller distributes these funds to counties after a request is made in accordance with Chapter 381 of the Local Government Code. These funds are restricted to be used to stimulate business and commercial activity by developing and administering a program, to support a child advocacy center, or to support comprehensive literacy programs for the benefit of county residence as listed in Chapter 381.004 of the Local Government Code.

Budget Department Action

A check in the amount of $70,099.20 was received mid-August 2018 and not included in the FY 2019 budget. Funds were deposited in the Economic Development Fund (1031) per LGC 381.004. There is currently a fund balance of $98,004 as of September 30, 2018. Request to establish a budget for fund 1031 for FY 2019 in the amount of $95,887 of which $50,000 will be issued to the Children's Advocacy Center on a future court. The remaining will be used to cover half of the libraries association payments budgeted for FY 2019. This will be 9th check for Collin County to issue to the Children's Advocacy Center from these funds.
