Department Action

The Collin County Information Technology department requests Commissioner Court provide direction, and set a standard, for implementation of building access control and security cameras as part of any new construction or building renovation within the county.

The Information Technology department requests implementation of access control readers in buildings to establish a secure exterior and interior perimeter to increase physical security, network security, and better protect access to the county network. Implementation of security cameras will help provide Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard compliance at counter locations and monitoring of physical access to the county network.

There is no direct funding required from establishment of a standard practice to install access control perimeter security unless there is a new building constructed or rennovation undertaken within the county. Funding to secure the building would be included as part of a base building package for the construction or rennovation.
