Department Action

The Juvenile Probation Department respectfully requests commissioners court consideration and approval to apply for a grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Division. If awarded, grant funding will be used to support the department and juvenile court’s collaborative, evidence-based specialty court program called GEMS (Girl’s Empowerment, Mentoring, and Support) to pay for program activities, outpatient and inpatient clinical services, and electronic monitoring for program participants. The maximum award is not to exceed $425,000.00 and does not require a county match.

FY 2020 Reducing Risk for Girls in Juvenile Justice Grant in the amount of $423,054. No County match required. Grant funds will cover clinical program services for female offenders participating in the Girl’s Empowerment Mentoring Support (GEMS) Program. Grant period is October 1, 2020 to September 20, 2023.

Auditor's Office Action

Grant application has been reviewed by the grant review committee as per attached. Grant is to provide evidence-based clinical program services for female offenders participating in the GEMS specialty court program. Federal grant funds in the amount of $423,054.00 with no county match required. Grant period is 10/1/2020 through 9/30/2023.
