Department Action

Attached for approval is an amendment to the DSHS IDCU/SUR FY2020-FY2021 grant contract (HHS000436300030) for the two year grant period, 9/1/2019-8/31/2021, in the amount of $342,445. The purpose of the IDCU/SUR funds is to support efforts by local health departments in addressing public health issues, specifically the surveillance and epidemiology activities associated with foodborne and waterborne illnesses such as Salmonellosis, E. coli, Campylobacteriosis, Cryptosporidiosis, and Cyclosporiasis. The Epidemiologists are responsible for the investigation, data entry, and electronic reporting to DSHS of foodborne and waterborne illnesses as required in the Texas Administrative Code § 97.3 for Collin County.

DSHS has notified our department of their intent to amend our existing contract in order to amend the Scope of Work (Attachment A-1 Revised Statement of Work). A review of the proposed amendment confirms there is no change in funding or effective dates.

The changes in the amendment’s Scope of Work are primarily focused on the types of conditions that the Epidemiologists are required to investigate. The amendment reflects some conditions have been removed from the list while other conditions such as Novel coronavirus, Amebiasis, Legionellosis, Salmonella Paratyphi have been added. By maintaining our epidemiology and surveillance capacity with the support of IDCU/SUR grant funding, CCHCS is striving to reduce the spread of illnesses in our community.
