Department Action

On October 28, 2024, the Commissioners Court approved funding for the Open Space projects that were presented to them by the Parks and Open Space Board. Once funds were allocated to the approved projects, there was a remaining balance left unallocated from 2023 and prior Bond sales.

The City of Lavon has the opportunity to purchase a parcel of land that is adjacent to their existing open space land that will house their future city park. They have approached the Parks and Open Space Board about getting assistance to purchase said parcel.

The Board met July 10, 2025 and voted unanimously to use funds left from the 2018 5th Bond cycle to fund this project.

Action Requested: It is requested that the Commissioners Court authorize the award of funds in the amount of $112,500 to the City of Lavon for the purchase of land to be used for Bear Creek Natural Open Space-Community Park.
