Ratification of County Judge's prior approval for an exemption to the bid process per VTCA LGC 262.024 (a) (3) "an item necessary to repair unforeseen damage to public property." As previously noted it has been determined that the 900 E. Park Blvd building has a severe window leak with associated ongoing damages. We have lease space and County offices that have been affected. We received quotes for waterproofing when we replaced the General Contractor as the waterproofing supplier and selected Chamberlin to perform the work. Chamberlin was hired to perform a water test and repair areas known to be leaking. Once the water test was completed additional work was identified and options were submitted to the County and our Architect. This pricing reflects the scope chosen by our Architect. Subsequent testing has identified another source of leaks caused by poor preparation of the wall prior to the initial coating by the previous contractor. Per our Attorney we will be able to back charge all costs associated with this repair to the General Contractor. I respectfully request an increase in authorization for this vendor from $165,000.00 to $171,000.00 reflecting an increase of $6,000.00.
