Attached for approval is notification that DSHS plans to renew IDCU/SUR grant contract (HHS000436300030) for the two year grant period, 9/1/2021-8/31/2023, in the amount of $342,446. This is grant is used to maintain (2) Epidemiologists that are currently on staff.

The purpose of the IDCU/SUR funds is to support efforts by local health departments in addressing public health issues, specifically the surveillance and epidemiology activities associated with foodborne and waterborne illnesses such as Salmonellosis, E. coli, Campylobacteriosis, Cryptosporidiosis, and Cyclosporiasis. The Epidemiologists are responsible for the investigation, data entry, and electronic reporting to DSHS of foodborne and waterborne illnesses as required in the Texas Administrative Code § 97.3 for Collin County.

DSHS IDCU SUR FY2022-FY2023 Grant in the amount of $342,446 in State funds with no required match. Funds to cover two existing Epidemiologist positions as well as office supplies and cell-phone service. Grant will not cover 100% of the cost of the personnel. The county would be responsible for approximately $115,150 over the two year term. Grant term is September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023.

Grant application has been reviewed by the grant review committee as per attached. Grant to sustain the epidemiological capacity in infectious disease and response for Collin County by maintaining the two existing epidemiologist positions.State funds in the amount of $342,446 with no county match required. Grant period is 9/1/2021 through 8/31/2023.
