Department Action

This is notification to Commissioners Court of the pay rate increase for security service in the Tax Assessor/Collector Office. This service is provided by off-duty law enforcement from the Plano Police Department. The current pay rate is $75.00 for two hours. The new pay rate of $100.00 will go into effect on August 03, 2021.

The last time the pay rate for security services was increased was in late 2006. It is very difficult to get another officer to substitute for the position because the rate is not competitive with the current rates officers are getting paid elsewhere and therefore a shift might go uncovered is someone is sick or has a priority obligation. Also, since the registration hold was lifted, the Plano office does not close exactly at 7:00pm due to the high volume of customers. The officers stay till all the workers are gone which is usually by 7:30p.

No action by Budget & Finance. Petty Cash fund to be kept by the Tax Assessor/Collector to pay off-duty law enforcement officers from the Plano Police Department. New pay rate of $100.00 will go into effect on August 3, 2021.

Security Service expense is budgeted in the Tax Assessor/Collector's account 0001-31001-0001-48-30-0000-626408. FY 2021 budget is $3,700 with a remaining available budget as of 08/02/2021 of $850.
