The Engineering Department requests approval of Change Order No. 3 to the construction contract with RPMx for the CCOL3C Project. Change Order No. 3 will allow for project quantity revisions due to various changes in field conditions. The most increase in quantity changes and cost is due to a change that the County requested along FM 543. The plans originally called out for right turn lanes onto the Outer Loop at FM 543, but after much discussion with TxDOT regarding the increased traffic along FM 543, it was determined that left turn lanes would be preferred. In addition, it was decided to rebuild the intersection in asphalt rather than concrete in preparation for TxDOT’s future widening of the FM 543/CCOL 3C intersection. Timing of TxDOT’s project is unknown; however, the left turn lanes will create a safe turning movement for the meantime. In addition, the county opted to groove both bridge decks to help water drain from the surface quicker for added safety.
There were several credits to the project due to items either not being needed or revised due to field changes as shown in the attached change order letter, therefore Change Order No. 3 results in a net contract increase of $388,924.95 revising the total construction contract amount to $62,538,069.74.

Recommended Action: It is requested that the Commissioners Court
-approve Change Order No. 3, increasing the CCOL3C contract by $388,924.95, for a total construction contract amount of $62,538,069.74.
