Department Action
I request that Commissioners Court accept the District Attorney Forensic Evidence Testing Grant FY2021. I was notified, on Monday, October 19, 2020, that our grant application was accepted in the full amount requested. The grant period runs from September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2021. This grant will be used to fund quantitative THC testing for seized cannabis samples. This grant will help eliminate the backlog of untested cannabis cases, created in FY2019, when the Texas Legislature passed HB 1325, creating new THC testing requirements, which the State laboratories are still not able to provide.
