Discussion on House Bill 2073 that requires Collin County to provide paid quarantine leave for both Peace Officers and Detention Officers who are ordered to quarantine or isolate due to a possible of known exposure to a communicable disease while on duty. The quarantine must be initiated by either the employee’s supervisor or the county health authority. The employee ordered to quarantine must receive full salary continuation for the duration of the quarantine. There can be no reduction in the employee’s leave accruals, retirement benefits, or health benefits as a result of the leave. The law went into effect on June 15, 2021. A copy of the bill is provided. Human Resources will amend the Collin County Handbook and polices as appropriate to comply with the requirements of this new law.
