I am notifying Commissioners Court that I am amending the FY2026 Budget for the DA State Forfeiture Fund (Fund 1037) to increase the Contract Labor line item, which is used to fund the post-bar intern stipend program.
This program has proven vital to staffing my office with entry-level misdemeanor prosecutors. Nearly all of our new hires have come through this program.
The stipends required for the prospective class of post-bar interns this fall will exceed the amount currently budgeted for this line item. Accordingly, I am increasing the Contract Labor line item by $20,000 to ensure adequate funding for the program.
